Dr. Sandlin is a native of Cullman, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science from UAB with a major in physics. Participation in the Honors Program led to his Master of Science at UAB. The doctor of Optometry (four additonal years) was received from the medical center at UAB. Dr. Sandlin ws selected as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an honor society, based on grade point average while in professional school. He has passed national boards with extensive testing in vision science, eye disease, and pharmacology. He is licensed to practice in Alabama and Tennessee. Since beginning private parctice in Athens in 1985, he has examined over sixteen thousand different patients. Each year he attends continuing education courses to remain current with the latest advancements in medical eye care. Local community service has included a four year term on the Athens-Limestone Public Library Board. He participates in his state professional association having served on the government relations committee. Hobbies include travel, tennis, fishing, and reading.
