Denise Capretta has been nationally recognized throughout her 43-year career as a certified ophthalmic medical technologist in the field of ophthalmology as well as an ABO and NCLE certified and licensed spectacle and contact lens optician.  Her desire to open her own practice led her to pursue a degree in ophthalmic dispensing and she became the owner of The Eye Express optical for 25 years.  Among many other positions and achievements, she was named one of Vision Monday’s “Most Influential Women in Optical” in 2012.  She was awarded the Bud Thoma Ohio Optician of the Year by the Opticians Association of Ohio in that same year.  In 1993, she was presented the first Ophthalmic Professional of the Year Award by the Cleveland Ophthalmic Personnel Society.  She continues to serve as Adjunct Faculty for the Tri-C Ophthalmic Dispensing Program at Cuyahoga Community College.  Denise currently works as the Professional Education Director for VSP Optics and is greatly respected for developing and training the sales, marketing and customer service teams on optics, contact lenses and the art of dispensing.  She developed and is the director of the PEAK Performance Program which provides education and training for VSP doctors and staff.  The goal is that they can become successful in providing the best eyecare which allows their patients to have the ultimate experience.
