Roopa Desa got her start at Eyefinity^® as a software engineer for OfficeMate^® back in 2002. Now, she oversees the point-of-sale and integrations teams for our cloud-based offerings. She also works with key account managers, who support enterprise clients. At the time of writing, she is helping Eyefinity’s third largest enterprise client onboard to Eyefinity Encompass^TM.

In building Encompass, Roopa and her teams are revamping the current code structure to break it out into smaller pieces. These smaller, more resilient code sections are great news for users. It not only means more stability in their software, but also faster changes without massive updates that require extensive testing.

This applies to all customers, not just enterprise clients. If an enhancement or fix is needed in the system, Eyefinity now has the flexibility to deploy those quickly, independent of a major software release. All it would take is a small tweak in that specific area.

“So in the middle of the day, everyone suddenly has a fix without downtime,” she says. “Today, if you need a fix, you have to wait until the end of the day, for all the customers to be out of the server so we can deploy it.”

Another area Roopa is excited about is creating a more streamlined, customizable experience for Encompass users. Not only are there ever-evolving features and integrations in the works, but these additions will allow front-end users to finish their jobs more quickly and with fewer errors.

Ultimately, her pride in the project comes back to her team, and those around her.

“This is such a huge effort and it’s not just one team,” she says, “There’s so much collaboration and every team has really been such a big part of it.”
