“I've been wearing glasses since I was in third grade and have dry eye myself. Because of my personal background navigating eye care, I feel that I can relate to patients and help their eyes to feel their best and then help them see their best as well,” says Dr. Nichole Moos, the owner and leading O.D. of Capitol Optometry, an independent practice that’s been in business since 2019.

For years, the practice was based in one location, nestled in the heart of downtown Sacramento, but in 2024 the team decided that an expansion was due. With a second location now up and running in the Curtis Park neighborhood in Sacramento, Dr. Moos along with her passionate team have the space and resources to take their practice to the next level.

 “We specialize in myopia and dry eye disease management, as well as medical visits like comprehensive diabetic exams and glaucoma exams,” Dr. Moos says.
 

Saving staff time

With a total of three doctors, including Dr. Moos herself, operating out of two practice locations, saving time for the staff is crucial. We have a lot of patients who have health savings accounts and flex spending accounts, and they're always asking for copies of their receipts. It's nice to give the staff time to input the orders throughout the day and then patients have immediate access to it without it having to be emailed when they come to pick up whatever they purchased.”

“I like that you can log in and see how many people are accessing the information. It gives us a better sense of patient behavior. For example, if a lot of people are requesting prescriptions it might suggest that your optical is not capturing those sales. That kind of back-end data has been very insightful and has helped our optical to improve and grow.”
