Casey Barton

Eyefinity

Senior Test Software Engineer

Since starting at Eyefinity® in 2005, Casey Barton’s job has been the last thing you’d expect: breaking the software. He tests Eyefinity software in different ways to root out vulnerabilities and ensure it’s ready for users. His work spans various engineering teams building simpler and easier software updates for customers. Casey’s ultimate goal? Software updates so smooth that users never notice.

“It’s even less visible than some of the work other teams are doing, but the idea is that if we can make it really easy to deploy, maintain, and update our software, we can be as efficient as possible and make things seamless for customers,” he says. “From our customers’ perspective, they won’t even notice that new versions are being dropped.”

As for his connection to Eyefinity Encompass™, Casey’s been part of those conversations from the very beginning. He was added to a team that began building an enterprise-level version of Eyefinity Practice Management, which was destined to become Encompass. With this new endeavor, he is most excited to roll out new configurations of software so practices can customize their experience, based on their wants and needs. Best of all, this new configuration allows product and engineering teams to focus more on building helpful features for the future.

“It’s time-consuming because you’re dealing with these weird configurations that we’d set up for someone five years ago,” he says. “We won’t have to worry about that anymore and in saving that time, we can devote more effort to improving the software and user experience. This is going to be a big step in the right direction.”
